There was no one to help Douja, who was about to have both hands severed as punishment for stealing the diamond ring of the lady of the lord who ruled the village. Though Douja desperately proclaimed his innocence, while the villagers watched, his own father cut off his wrists, and he died as a warning to others. A few days passed, and the severed wrists of Douja that were displayed in the square disappeared. And from around that time, strange things began happening in the village. Things would vanish, only to reappear somewhere else. And then the lord's lady's ring went missing again, and this time Panet, Douja's best friend, came under suspicion.
