"Early Dawn - What appears as the moon of dawn's light is the white snow falling in the village of Yoshino." ---The white snow falling heavily in the village of Yoshino shines like the light of the moon before daybreak.--- Yoriaki (later known as Kogyoku), the grandson of Minamoto no Yoritomo, who established the samurai government in Kamakura, was ordered by his grandmother Hōjō Masako to become a Buddhist monk when his father Yoriie was stripped of his position as shogun while still young. Unable to find the answer, he wonders why he lives when everyone treats him as a nuisance, and what he should aim for. Sent to Onjo-ji Temple in Ōmi without finding an answer, Yoriaki meets a certain monk there... A story depicting the inner heart of a boy as delicate as thin snow, who would carry out the assassination of the third shogun and sever the Yoritomo bloodline.
