Objections to Poorly Illustrated Book Adaptations

I have often felt uncomfortable with the illustrations in book adaptations. Drawings that don't match the character descriptions, illustrations with peculiar styles that appeal to no one. However, there are illustrations so terrible that those seem cute by comparison. Why are such illustrations published when there are authors and editors involved? They diminish the work I bought with my meager savings, leading me into despair. My anger has reached its peak.
