And well, this is a common thing in the countryside, but my paternal grandmother seemed to be a believer in the "firstborn son" doctrine. Though she's already passed away now. My grandmother absolutely doted on my older brother, her first male grandchild. That said, I wasn't treated poorly or anything. But my younger brothers and other grandchildren... my cousins from my perspective... they were treated with pretty obvious favoritism by comparison. And then one time I wondered about it.
