Peering into the heart

Ever since I was little, I had always been in love with my childhood friend Zieg. I had one-sidedly dreamed that someday he would propose to me using magic, but I learned that Zieg lacked the talent to become a mage, making that proposal impossible. Shocked, I hurled cruel words at Zieg, and we became estranged. Ten years later, when Zieg and I reunited, he had become a knight. I realized that I still loved him, but my feelings naturally could not be rewarded—not after I had hurt him with those cruel words.
