The Way of Otherworldly Cooking

Tsurumi Asuta is a 17-year-old second-year high school student who works as an apprentice chef at "Tsurumi-ya," a casual dining restaurant run by his father. One day, the restaurant catches fire. In an attempt to save his father's prized santoku knife—a blade that represents his father's very soul—Asuta jumps into the inferno, where he loses his life. When he regains consciousness, he finds himself in the middle of an unfamiliar dense forest. After being attacked by Giba, a beast resembling a wild boar, Asuta is rescued by a girl named Ai-Fa who calls herself one of the "Forest People."
