The prestigious Kitakaki family has produced many excellent personnel for the Navy. In a corner room of the mansion, there is a protagonist-like "I" – Kitakaki Kiyoshiro – who lives reading books instead of becoming a military officer. His only friend, so to speak, is his older cousin – or rather, Army First Lieutenant Kirshima Akihito. He doesn't mind that Kiyoshiro never leaves the mansion; rather, he seems to enjoy visiting frequently. While that makes him happy, his older brother Seiichiro is quite frightening and is a Navy Major who dislikes the Army. For this reason, Kiyoshiro has lived trying to avoid his brother's attention as much as possible… But all such efforts were in vain. One day, Akihito suddenly asked him to do something outrageous – a "job"!
