Upon learning that his master Jessica had fallen into darkness, Kaル is plunged into despair and eventually becomes a recluse. However, this does not last long, as fellow mages of light who were supposed to be his companions attack Kaル's home as members of the dark-side gig work. Questioning the corruption of the light mages, Kaル decides to change the Japanese Mage Federation from within, to which these light mages belong. Kaル finds himself fighting not only against dark mages and resentful beasts, but also against his fellow light mages. However, this entangles him in a power struggle within the Japanese Mage Federation, and Kaル is killed. When he comes to, Kaル finds himself reincarnated in the Heian period of a slightly different world line from actual history. Kaル would go on to search for a way to return to his original era.
