Lelia is not beautiful, and she has an ugly burn scar on her right hand. However, thanks to her noble status as the emperor's niece, which more than compensates for her appearance, she was able to become engaged to Gilbert, a handsome duke's son. Lelia comes to the Kingdom of Totalis as an exchange student to interact with Gilbert and attends a party at the academy. There, the crown prince announces the breaking of his engagement to his fiancée. It is Gilbert, Lelia's fiancé, who extends a helping hand to the beautiful Marianne in her predicament. Gilbert proposes to Marianne on the spot, and Lelia is rejected. This is a short story about a duke's daughter who has given up on being loved and wishes to live a carefree life, until her marriage.
