"For five years, let me bind you."

"You don't have to do anything. I don't ask anything of you." These were the words my husband told me on our wedding day. Our marriage, lasting only one year, ended in a white marriage. Still, I loved him. So, as I lay dying from illness, I made one request of him. "Please don't remarry for five years." At least for a little while. Even if I would be resented, I wanted to keep him bound to me.
