A boy named Cyril lives in solitude in the northern tower. With his white hair and gray eyes, he is called a "demon" and has killed his heart, living while enduring violence and contempt from the soldiers who manage the tower. By chance, the smile and gift of a boy named Haoran bring light to Cyril's heart. The two nurture friendship and a subtle love, but Haoran decides to leave the tower to become a war hero. And then, after a long war ends, Cyril and Haoran reunite in an unexpected place.
