One day, without any warning, a god descended upon a remote island. At first, the island's inhabitants were overcome with joy. The appearance of a god on earth was a miracle that rarely occurred. But that sense of wonder soon turned into a nightmare. The god established absolute rule and treated people like slaves. Those who disobeyed orders were slaughtered without mercy. The age of terror continued for many years. But one day, a single man rose up. "I've had enough." With those words, he sparked a rebellion. It was difficult to gather allies, but the suffering accumulated over the long years eventually moved the hearts of the people. Finally, they took action. But—— Hope was far from matching the god's omnipotence. Humans were nothing but dust to a god. And the man's chest was pierced, and he fell to the brink of death. However, he did not die. Remarkably, a purplish, mucus-like substance gushed from his wound, sealing the hole in his body. It was an eerie existence that seemed not of this world. That mark——later called the "God's Wound (shinshou)"——was proof of a curse, and at the same time, it might have been the only key to slaying the god——.
