I had a fiancée. My family, though a branch line, carried royal blood. She was the daughter of a house chosen by the current royal family, or so I was told. Despite being an only child, she was marrying into my family. I interpreted her as an incompetent daughter who wasn't chosen as heir despite being the only child. And I resented the royal family for making such an incompetent daughter my fiancée. Every time I saw her face, I thought, "Why is such a woman my fiancée...?" but since she was officially my fiancée, I treated her accordingly. After entering the academy, I met her there. A former commoner young lady who had only recently been taken in by a noble family. An innocent smile completely different from my fiancée. Her carefree attitude, her gentle words. It wasn't just me who took a liking to her... Two men, now friends but scheduled to become my aides in the future, also seem to have taken a liking to her. And so has my fiancée's younger brother. One day, when my fiancée approached her, we ended up arguing. "I'm ashamed that such a woman is my sister-in-law, even if only by marriage! Please stop this already!!" I agreed with my fiancée's younger brother's words. "Absolutely. I'm ashamed that such a woman is my fiancée. If I could, I'd want to annul the engagement right now, she's so hateful." I didn't think it would come to this. How we were perceived by those around us... When I was made to realize that, I fell into despair.
