The protagonist Amansaka Ichiman, who earns daily wages working at a moving company, jumped in front of a truck trying to save a kitten after work. He saves the kitten, but is engulfed by a lukewarm yet painful light. That was the beginning of everything. When he came to, he was in another world, where gods truly existed. They bestowed blessings called "protection" upon people, and people lived using those protections. The name of this world was Gafaria. This is a story in such a world, where finding companions and charging forward toward the world's taboos, an oni who mastered a foolish school of martial arts and a kitten tell their tale.
